2. Eligibility Criteria for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship

 

Eligibility Criteria for Undergraduates: 

  1. Be Egyptian nationals, residents of Egypt (preference will not be given to dual nationality holders).
  2. There is no age limit in this scholarship.
  3. Cumulative GPA of 3.5/90% in Thanaweya Amma or equivalent High School Certificate is required.
  4. TOEFL iBT as proof of English proficiency is required with a minimum score of 100 taken within 2 years.
  5. For Undergraduate applicants, SAT 1 score of 1450 and minimum ACT score of 32 (taken within 2 years) is required.
  6. For masters, a Bachelor’s degree with 3.5 GPA is required.
  7. A minimum GMAT test score of 650 (taken within 5 years) is required for Masters of Business Administration.
  8. 3 years working experience is required for applicants applying to Masters of Business Administration and a minimum of 2 years of working experience is required for Engineering fields.
  9. Applicants’ previous participation in curricular activities is required.
  10. Applicants should be planning to start their study in the U.S in 2024.
  11. Applicants should not have lived abroad for more than 2 years.
  12. Applicants are obliged to return to their home country Egypt and serve for 2 years directly after completing their studies in the U.S.

5.2. Valid passport, Birth certificate & NIC

 

  • The passport of the applicant must contain at least one full blank page on both sides.
  • The passport must be valid at the time of visa application and on arrival to the USA.
  • A birth certificate or national ID card is also important to attach.

5.3. English Proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL) for Onsi Sawiris Scholarship

 

English Proficiency is a must for applying to Onsi Sawiris Scholarships.

Only TOEFL is acceptable for both undergraduate and graduate applicants with a score of 100 or above given within the past two years. 

 

 

5.4. Recommendation letters / Letters of References

The applicants must provide up to 2 leadership letters of references of maximum two pages from the previous university, (Depending upon courses).

It is advised to provide a letter of recommendation from the HOD (Head of the department or Relevant course head) who should be a PhD.

The referees need to write their contact details (Email, phone number) at the end of the letter.

The letter must include an official letterhead, signature, and official stamp and must be of the current date.

Ask your Referees to write about your academic achievements & discuss their confidence in you that you are fully compatible with the project or course you wish to pursue.

The referees must also mention how long they know the applicant & when was the last time they came in contact with the applicant.

After submitting your application, the referee will be contacted directly through email.

5.5. Hope certificate (If applicable)  


If the final transcript isn’t ready then students can apply with a Hope certificate from their university.

However, they must graduate before their arrival in the USA.

In simple words, It is a certificate based on the previous semester’s performance, that indicates that the candidate will pass the final exams with excellent results. 

 

 

5.6. GRE

 

The GRE score must be 315 (Analytical Writing: 4.5). 

Note: You can apply for the reimbursement of the GRE fee if you get shortlisted and have an outstanding GRE Score.

Technically SOP (Statement of purpose) and  LOM (Letter of Motivation) are the same things.

Preference will be given to candidates who have not lived, worked, or studied abroad for more than two years.
